I’m sure that many of you have wanted to know about where to send a press release for the most coverage. This post gives some options and advice from the biggest and more expensive to the free services available.
The two largest press release services are Business Wire and PR Newswire (United Business Media).
PR Newswire’s membership fee is about $195. There are various pricing options that allow for local, state, national, or international distribution. The costs range from about $200 to about $1,000, based on a 400-word release. You pay an additional fee for each 100 additional words.
Business Wire has no membership fee but there are extra charges for a variety of add-on features. [They charge $225 for 1 geographic target for under 400 words].
MarketWire.com offers a flat rate of $235 with no word fees.
There are several online services that offer free distribution of press releases.

[Be aware that some of these post to their site but do not distribute to their own email lists or feeds to journalists and others who sign up to get news. You pay for access to a larger group and for distribution to the top news web sites. You also pay for control over when your news is released, editing & review to keep quality up, and extra services.]

Janet
Thank you for reminder about free press releases.
I do use free press release.com service myself and and used 1888press release as well. I agree some free press release services companies are great but some have to watch.. Again we get what we pay for.
I think writing a press release to paid service then waiting for few days and then submitting to free one is good strategy. Again we must tweak all them…
Thank you Janet for list of resources..
