Traditionally news that could go out right away has a statement at the top that reads, “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.” I’m not sure how relevant this is now but I believe it’s just to let the media know they don’t have to wait until a certain day/time to release time sensitive news.
I got a good laugh from this web site called www.ForImmediateDelete.com and it’s very clever. Black background. As in “dead.” Dramatic. Clever. I can’t tell what on earth it has to do with the company though – a company that sells hats. Marketing ploy.

I’m going to use this in presentations to signify when NOT to issue a press release. If you’re not careful and your news is all about you and not your audience, it will get deleted upon arrival.
Like I’ve said many times, put your press release online, add some keywords. Make it interesting to people. Have a good reason to write a press release. That has value. The press release is not dead. The old way is less impactful. But it’s still there. The new way is to pitch your news to search engines and to people directly. That will never die.
What do you think – are most press releases for immediate delete?
