I agree that the best article marketing is to have your own contact list and pitch to high quality web sites. However, I’ve also seen great results with articles using an article submission service. They essentially submit your article to multiple article directories who may publish your article.
This poll is to decide which article submitter is the best. Let me know in the comments why you chose the one you chose. I don’t count individual sites like Ezinearticles.com because I’m just looking at the automated services this time around.

On LinkedIn Jeannine Clontz pointed out 2 niche article sites if your article has to do with motivation/inspiration topics: selfgrowth.com or Alumbo.com. Comparing the two, SelfGrowth.com has a PageRank of 6 and A LOT more traffic.
As pointed out in the comments, you can also submit your articles to: Findarticles.com, Marketingprofs.com and Webpronews.com. Additionally, Fast Company lets you set up a blog where you could post articles. So does Duct Tape Marketing and Associated Content.

You might also include SubmitYourArticle which is one of the largest ones I believe
